#TWDSPORTS : NBA: Playoffs – Memphis Grizzlies vs. San Antonio Spurs – Western Conference Finals (Game 1)

A first in Tennessee has been etched in stone for eternity, as Memphis Grizzlies have advanced to the NBA Western Conference finals in the first occassion in franchise history.Fifth seeded Memphis doused the first seeded, ever-dominant Oklahoma City Thunder in an exciting 4-1 route in the semi-final showdown; where Grizzlies talent-laced frontcourt trio consisting of Marc Gasol, Zach Randolph, and Tayshaun Prince sheerly outclassed the odds-on Oklahoman title favorites lead by Kevin Durant in a shocking fairytale turn of events.

Tayshaun Prince, who was acquired in February 2013 from Detroit Pistons, has appeared reborn in Memphis after loyally overstaying his welcome in a Pistons era in a stagnantly, frustrating rebuilding proccess undergoing currently in the motor city. Prince, a 2004 NBA world champion in Detroit, has brought a championship-mentality pedigree, and deceiving mental edge toughness that wasn’t as prevalent in supremely talented former-Grizzlies swingman Rudy Gay; despite Grizzlies appearing in the NBA post-season twice consecutively before the upper echelon decisively pulled the trigger on shipping out Gay to Toronto Raptors.

“I think everybody on the team; we all want to go one more time. It’s been a long time.” San Antonio Spurs Tony Parker said of a potential trip to the NBA finals.

For the eighth time in his storied career, Tim Duncan, 37, heads to the Western Conference finals after an 94-82 game 6 victory against Golden State Warriors; a 19 point, 6 rebound, a 3 block showing rallied the Spurs to an inspired triumph.

Memphis Grizzlies (56-26) now will go one on one with San Antonio Spurs (58-24) in the NBA Western Conference finals; as the Texan outfit eliminated Golden State Warriors 4-2 in a best of seven series. Game one of the NBA Western Conference finals commences on May 19 at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, TX.
