Brock Lesnar vs. Triple H: Game On

It’s time to play the game. A nine month long personal vendetta has manifested to boiling point between two of sports-entertainments most endearing gladiators; with a war to settle a storied score between: Brock Lesnar and ‘The Game’ Triple H.

It was December 31, 2011, Brock Lesnar met his physical match, when the Minnesotan mauler was handed a devastating defeat that was heard from around the world, and rocked the core of the fight universe from his testosterone-fueled opponent – Dutch-British former Strikeforce combatant, Alistair Overeem at UFC 141 – which resulted in Lesnar unceremoniously retiring from Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). For any consolation, ESPN saluted Brock Lesnar as the most profitable UFC fighter the same year (2011) with $5.3m made during the calendar year.

Four months thereafter from the cage divorce, after calculating his next career arc; which includes playing Defensive End for the Minnesota Vikings of the NFL and publishing autobiographical ‘Deatch Clutch: My story of determination, domination and survival’ with marketing media guru, Paul Heyman, WWE shocked fans worldwide as it was announced in April 2012 that Lesnar inked an exclusive $5m a year contract with the Connecticut-based Sports Entertainment giants; who operate on New York’s Wall Street stock exchange with an estimated net worth of almost $500m.

Lesnar partially used his marquee influence, to both passively bully and innately intimidate a vast array of WWE head honchos who he deemed fit; as lucrative perks such as private leer jets, favored preferential treatment, and a substantially lighter work part-time schedule were agreed upon by upper echelon officials to secure the former UFC champion, who made his grand WWE reintroduction after eight years the night after Wrestlemania 28; to confrontationally stand toe-to-toe then subsequently deliver a gravity-defying, tornado-like F5 to the wholesome face of WWE – John Cena.

‘This company (WWE) needs someone to legitimize it…and Brock Lesnar is that guy’ said the self-confident, perennially third-person speaking Superstar.

The 13-time WWE champion and Chief Operating Officer, Triple H, 43, adamant in allowing that a superstar hold WWE for contractual ransom at figurative gun-point, stood firm ground with the former WWE three-time champion; that led the 6’3 265 pound Lesnar to cinch a clenching Kimora (submission arm lock) to break the arm of ‘The King Of Kings’.

At WWE RAW record-setting 1000 episode, that aired on July 23, 2012, the personal advisor of Lesnar, Paul Heyman, officially sealed a big fight main event for his most-prized client and revengeful Triple H to compete one-on-one at Summerslam 2012 at Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA; which saw a barn-burning, no-disqualifications, strong-willed street fight ensue in the City of Angels, as Triple H was invariably forced to tap out, and live to fight another day, after almost twenty minutes of mayhem against his Scandinavian-raged, berserker-like adversary.

With six months of self-imposed exile, a rejuvenated, fiercely focused, buzz cut-haired cerebral assasin returned on February 25, 2013 to exact pent-up, Godfather-esque payback; sling-shotting the self-absorbed and narcissistic Lesnar into the steel ring post, whilst cleverly levelling him with blatant haymakers; that saw a facial incision materialise into a crimson mask on the disoriented and momentarily dazed former NCAA collegiate champion.

March 4, 2013 special old-school edition of RAW will solidify the road to Wrestlemania 29, held at the home of the NFL New York Giants – Metlife Stadium (Capacity: 82,000) on April 7 – as both Triple H and Brock Lesnar are both present Buffalo, NY to advance in the one-upmanship of each other, with only 33 days remaining until the Superbowl of sports entertainment.

More than 350,000 pay-per-view buyrates were recorded for the prior bout between these decorated superstars at Summerslam 2012; along with February 25, 2013 RAW garnering a solid 3.6 rating that featured the bloodied, bitter altercation.

Triple H (real name: Paul Levesque) has also transitioned into the Hollywood world of motion pictures, with high profile roles in ‘Blade: Trinity’ (starring Wesley Snipes, Ryan Reynolds and Jessica Biel), ‘The Chaperone’ and ‘Inside Out’ alongside Michael Rapaport, yet there are – pun intended – second takes necessary, when both athletes fantasize about painting the ultimate picture at Wrestlemania 29. Both WWE superstars need success like they need air…and they will both go to extreme measures in order to receive that air.

Lesnar, 35, has defeated bonifide bad-asses in: Shane Carwin, Randy Couture and Frank Mir in the gruelling UFC octogon (UFC Win-loss record: 5-3), whilst leaving The Rock, Kurt Angle and The Undertaker in his destructive wake in the legacy of his WWE tale; courtesy of his deceptive gazelle speed, gritty drive and uncanny athleticism; with a bench press feat of 475 pounds, non surprisingly squat of 695 pounds, a 4.7 second forty-yard dash, and an NBA-like 35 inch vertical leap.

Triple H, who works out devoutly, was named Mr. New Hampshire before the bright lights of the squared-circle beckoned upon his calling. The Game is also an avid fan of the annual bodybuilding Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic; which he has previously hosted, being he is a lifetime fan of the former Governer of California and ‘Terminator’ American icon. ‘Making the Game’ is also a further testiment to the dedication and passion to training the anatomies temple to peak condition; a muscle-building manual publication that was released to train like The Game exhibits that you can be what you want to be with love for what you do and persistence.

With such detailed disdain for one another, the unrelenting burning desire to be the top dog overrides the former emotion. Woodstock was to Rock and Roll what Wrestlemania is to professional wrestling. With Superbowl-sized spectation at Metlife Stadium, one can only assume four words as Brock Lesnar and Triple H play Russian roulette with their careers – Here comes the pain.
